Skype

Users who have Skype installed on their computer may experience a problem whereby phone numbers in the subject outline PDF are highlighted. This also appears on any PDF printouts.

This is an issue with the user's set up and not a problem with CIS/Subject Outlines.

To fix the issue, the user needs to disable the Skype add-on/plug-in/extension in her or his browser using the following instructions (as applicable).

Disable the plug-in directly from the browser:

  • open your web browser
  • on the toolbar you should see the Skype add-on/extension icon
  • click on the icon to turn it off.

In Internet Explorer, go to:

  • Tools > Manage add-ons > Enable or disable add-ons > Skype > Disable

If the previous steps did not solve the issue, then you need to uninstall and reinstall Skype.

To uninstall Skype, go to:

  • Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (on Vista, go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Programs and Features)
  • Search for 'Skype' and remove/uninstall it.

Reinstall Skype by downloading at: www.skype.com/go/download. Once you start the installation process, click the [Options] button on the installation window and untick the following two check boxes:

  • Install Skype extension for Mozilla Firefox
  • Install Skype add-on for Internet Explorer

Then proceed with the installation as usual.

Previewing and generating PDFs

Scroll bar: if you're using Internet Explorer 7, to scroll down the left pane you need to use the browser's scroll bar on the extreme right hand side of the screen, not the left pane's scroll bar. This is only an issue for IE7 users.

Printing: do not use the print button at the top right of the right pane to print a copy of the PDF. It won't provide the desired results. Instead use the [Generate PDF] button (bottom right of window).
